Heather, the last time I made puppy chow, I got the recipe by googling. You might want to try that.  Cool Cool

"Googling" is what I did. Here's the recipe from:
http://www.chex.com/recipes/RecipeView.aspx?RecipeId=19919&CategoryId=342

Chex® Muddy Buddies®

Another popular name for this favorite mix is "puppy food". Chow down; it's doggone good!

Prep Time:15 min
Start to Finish:15 min
Makes:18 servings (1/2 cup each)

Ingredients
9   cups Corn Chex®, Rice Chex®, Wheat Chex® or Chocolate Chex® cereal (or combination)
1   cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2   cup peanut butter
1/4   cup butter or margarine
1   teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2   cups powdered sugar

Substitution
Peanut butter and chocolate are a favorite flavor combo, but peanut butter lovers can substitute peanut butter chips for the chocolate chips to intensify that flavor.

Directions
1.   Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.

2.   In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.

3.   Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Well there is the old fashion way!!    When I was litttle we got a dog. My mom asked my aunt how she made dog food. Aunt said put old milk, eggs, grease and table scraps (kinda like bread pudding). Bake it till it browns.  Well mama whipped her up some ,Had Just taken it pout of the oven and went to the bathroom.  Another aunt came in and got her a spoon to taste what was on top of the stove.as usual, taking her a big bit  or two" Oh! Betty this is so goood. What is it?" Mama said" What you eating ? There is nothing but the dog food." Boy she spit and spit rinsed her mouth out and went home.  She came back BUT never ate out of the pans on the stove again.  Of course when mama told the sister in law who gave her the receipe they had a good laugh
