We went to the Merle Haggard concert in Wichita last month. They didn't really allow camcorders in there.. but they did allow digital camera's. They checked purses etc at the door..and they looked at my camera and waved me on in..
Well, I kinda cheated..as I have a camcorder built in to my camera, so I grabbed a few segments with it. The quality isn't as good as a standard camcorder, but when you are "undercover"..  Wink you can't be choosy.

Anyway, I edited and cut to the best that could be saved.. amongst the people hollering and everyone moving around bumping into me and the bad lighting.. I didn't too bad with giving you a sample of the legendary Merle.

Enjoy..

Maybe I just don't understand, but if it was a concert, why was there so much noise and people walking around?

Thanks for sharing Merle Haggard with us!  He certainly does a good job of singing.  I would imagine there was a really big crowd?

Thanks again.

Diane, to answer your question.  Because people are not spectators anymore, they have to be participants.  Gone are the days of sitting quietly and politely, listening to  and watching the performers, then showing your appreciation with applause, maybe a bit of screaming.  It is so noisy that you can't hear the performance without the speakers blasting at your ear drums.  And trying to speak to your companion is beyond the question.

This was at the Cotillion and there are big long tables and chairs everywhere. Everyone is just crammed in there like sardines. They always over book in this place ..and that makes it crowded.
People are up and down and going to get buckets of beer and food. It is a concert, but it is a big party too.

Does the fire marshal know?  After what happened to Great White, around here they will close it down if they are over the fire code limit.  Our "Stone Balloon" was nationally well known and we had really big names here, Charlie Daniels, Bruce Springsteen...lots more, but the city fire marshal had been our chief for years and he took no prisoners when it came to safety.  They were right behind our station 9, where I'm off to shortly.

Ms. T,  Excellent.  When he sang without his cowboy hat, I didn't know who he was and I was wondering why you were videoing one of his band members.  Jokes on me.  ha ha
