It's a scramble to try to beat the rising flood waters that are taking over our campsite and lake area.
It was never supposed to have been possible for the upper area to flood... but flood it did!

I tried to capture the story as best I could through this video...
( We haven't yet started to clean up   Tongue )

I failed to mention that Danny, Derek , Jeff and Jarrod had all been
called to Horst Hillers to try to save valuables from his flooding barn early that afternoon.
For 3 hours solid, they walked and swam in water to their chests carrying out furniture and valuables to try to get them to higher places.
It got to the point that Derek had to swim and carry Jeff out of the barn on his shoulders because it was so deep that Jeff couldn't get out without ruining his phone..

The boys were literally exhausted after doing all of  that.. only to go check on our lake and have to start again.
Mark and I got a frantic call that we needed to get out there .. NOW... that the water was rising fast!.
So I grabbed my camcorder and camera.. and away we went.

The rest of the story is on the video...

Good job, girlie.  Now, after reading about everyone helping out Horst Hiller, I wish you had a video of Derek carrying Jeff on his shoulders.  I would have loved to see that.

I wasn't there..........................or I would have.

( There was a small story to that.. that was funny.. but can't tell it on here)

**Those of you who know Derek and his humor, can imagine**

On a serious note... I was really proud of all of them.
They just worked their tails off solid, from about 2:00 in the afternoon to about 8:00 that night.

Thank you, Teresa. You did a great job with the video. For those of us not in Elk County during all the flooding, it was amazing to see just how bad it was. You all took a great risk driving those country roads, and we're all glad you made it to a safe shelter for the night.

Just curious...whatever became of the baby skunk?

and now the clean-up, but maybe mother nature will give you more time to do that than she gave you to get things to higher ground.  You had some good hands helping, tho.

Fred and I watched the video last night ---Oh My -- that was frightening, and yes that water can come up faster than you would think.  We were just glued to this screen..a lot of work - good filming, honey, and little Ashie was her usual talking self -- bless her heart.
The water here at the campground was like that -  you could just see the rising water on your video - by looking at the guys legs.  Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.

awesome video, i've only seen water rise that fast in houston during tropical storm allison.  floods can be so devistating.

I have been looking on google map for rd 14 and I have found 2 of them.  One is down Cresco Rd past my grandfathers old farm and the other is north of severy.   I am not good at landmarks (like just down the road from devines bridge) so is there any other way you could tell me where your campsite is?  I would appreciate.  Thanks
