Got to tell you folks about a pet dog of my friend, Billie Rice. When my late husband was so very ill with cancer, Billie and Muffin were there everyday. Muffin (a small mixed breed) didn't like men, but she immediately jumped into Lewis' lap and just layed very very quiet. This was so out of her character but you know what? They know when someone is sick and now the very sad part, she was sick also. She died just a few days after Lewis passed. She had cancer also and we didn't know it. Muffin and Lewis became very good friends during those months. You can sure get attached to those little friends.

as I was hitting post, looked up and this is under the heading of Elk County TV = hahahaha - don't know what our dear pets have to do with putting together a story of Elk County, but guess they are part of it also.

Boy, Flo, you are exactly right. Somehow, dogs know. I know Tucker does and it is quite plain that Muffin also could tell. I think it's amazing. I have thought before that when the dog starts following me around and laying next to me all day, I should probably go see the doctor.

I can't let this one pass. Last week on the day that my daughter was moving, I was uneasy all morning with the feeling that something was going to go wrong. My Bud was also restless, coming in, going out, coming in, yowling all over the place. About 10:40 she called and said the truck was on it's way and she was ready to leave. Ten minutes later I got a call from a man that tried to tell me that my daughter had been in an accident. I was giving him the 3rd degree because there have been calls like that that turn out to be a hoax. Then my daughter got on the phone. She had been in an accident and was getting ready to be taken to the emergency room. The rest of the day was very busy. But Buddy Boy had tried to tell me all morning that something was wrong. After the phone call, he more or less settled down to a normal day. Do animals know and feel? Definitely. Very much so. Pay attention. They are a comfort. He has been with me for 5 years now, through my heart surgery, some of my husband's illnesses and his passing. Now, he is my constant companion and best friend.

Darn, Mother. I thought I was your best friend. But, of course, I don't curl up in your lap and purr, so I guess it has to be Buddy Boy.

Teresa and Kjell, I just now had a chance to see your video of Howard and I can't thank you enough, it was really heart warming to see my hometown while setting here in far West Texas. I was born in Howard and lived there until I was 25 years old and Howard will always be home to me. When I was 5 years old I started working in my brothers IGA store on main street and worked there until he sold it when I was 11 or 12, then I worked on Main street for Mrs Perrin in her studio for a short time, then I worked for the next 8 or 10 years at Garrison Farm supply and for farmers and ranchers. I loved living and growing up in Howard and the people were the greatest. So many people I worked for and got to spend lots of time with while growing up, Clay Reams, Clad Criger, Guy Denton, Bill Gragg, Leon and Earl Garrison, all of these people had a positive impact on me and my life. Thanks again to both of you for a really neat and special gift to all of us who can't live in Howard USA.

Gosh Frank.. Thank you so much for that wonderful compliment.
You know when we talked about putting up the video section on here, we both wondered if it would fly or if it would die by the side of the rode somewhere.. quietly and peacefully.
Still don't know..
But we decided to go ahead and put it up anyway. We were hoping for the exact reaction that you gave us. We have had so many nice things said, and it does my heart good to know that we are bringing a little bit of "home" to those of you who have moved away and for those who have never got to enjoy Howard and Elk County.
If I get the time( and the
IF
is huge right now.).. I would like to go to all the little towns of Elk County and video them..plus some of the out in the country places that people will remember. And I will get to it.. but it won't be this next week. lol
I have several small video's and pics that I want to put up here. I'm always asking Kjell.. "Do you think people will think that this is dumb if I put up a video slide of ...this..or that...'?..(Example.. "Tombstone Arizona" or little odds and ends that we do..)
He always says," that is what this site is about.. People and their lives and where they live, and what they are doing." Just because it is Elk County, doesn't mean that EVERYTHING has to be filmed in Elk County. "
So maybe I need some feedback on what people think needs to be accepted or eliminated.
Kjell has done the work to put up the same kind of player in our other 2 websites and it's really taking off.. People are sending in their videos and pictures about their shooting activities all the time in
CasCity.com
and then in
Downrange.TV
(click on to see)
We have lots of experts on with their video clips giving all kinds of information about guns etc.
Plus Micheal Bane has his audio blog and podcast on every week, so there is many variations that is being done.
But I like the Howard one the best..as it is kind of my pet project.
Once again..
thank you everyone,
for enjoying it..that is why we did it!

Here is the video ..part one..that we made from our weekend at the Machine gun shoot in Wyandotte Oklahoma. Between the torrential downpour of rain and then the HOT steam bath afterwards.. the ticks and the chiggers..we got 2 full days of filming done....and..........................
I got to shoot 8 machine guns, and I was so excited you couldn't of slapped the grin off my face.. It was awesome..!
We worked hard and got lots of footage.. but wow..
How cool is it to have a job that you get paid for and get to have this much fun...
I know that it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I still wanted to share with you so you all will know what we do.
