My name is Debi Arreola and I am not from around here. I am from Wichita, but have lived in Emporia the last 20 years. My last job was as a supervisor at Hopkins Manufacturing for 16 years. I have 4 grown children and 1 Grandson. My husband Tony works as a lead man and rig operator for a pulling unit out of Emporia.
Labor Day weekend I was here in town visiting my very good friend Connie Avalos.... Connie was driving me around, showing me town when she stopped in front of a vacant donut shop. It just happened that Rob Cookson was driving by just as we were looking in the windows. Rob showed us the donut shop and Connie nudged me. Well,,, I can't tell you why, but "something" just told me to come here to Howard. I decided very quickly that I was just going to have faith in myself... I gave my 2 week notice at my job... I can't explain it. I needed a life change and here I am.
I am looking forward to getting to know people and making new friends. I have enjoyed the company of visitors to the shop so far and am excited to get to know you all. Feel free to invite me to supper or something. Just kidding, I am in bed before most of you all have supper.
