Howard Courant
January 13, 1927

Philip G. McCaslin was born in Monroe County, Tennessee on May 28th, 1847, and died at his home in Moline, Kansas, December 29th, 1926 at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

He was married to Ellen Stukely in 1871 and to this union eleven children were born, three of whom are still living; W. A. McCaslin of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Lillie Dixon of Nickerson, Kansas and Mrs. Addie McSpadden of Moline, Kansas.

He was married to Alice Jones in 1915.

He came to Kansas in 1871 and settled on a farm one mile west of the Star school house and then twenty-two years ago, moved to Moline where he has since lived.

He was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the Star school house in 1878. While at the Star school house, he was Superintendent of the Sunday school and Class Leader.  After moving to town he always attended and was active in this work of the church as far as his health permitted.  He was a good man, a kind husband and father.

Besides his wife and three children he leaves one brother, J. H. McCaslin of Sanford, Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie McSpadden of Moline and Mrs. Addie Fain of Athens, Tennessee and five grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Moline, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. B. Cooprider, after which interment was made in the Moline cemetery.
