Howard Courant
Thursday, May 5, 1938

George Byron Perrin was the son of Mary Crowell and Lewis LePreulett Perrin, born March 27, 1857, in Lowell, Mass.  Died April 26, 1938, at his home in Howard.  He was united in marriage to Cora Fannie Bates, on October 13, 1880, who with one son, Lewis LeRoy Perrin and one daughter, Hazelle Perrin Tomlinson, all of Howard, survive him.  Also he leaves a twin sister, Mrs. Ellen Bemis of Whittier, California and three grandchildren, Phillip, Jean and Robert Perrin.

Mr. Perrin was a photographer of Springfield, Vermont before coming West.  He followed the same calling in Kansas, and has been in Howard for the past twenty-three years.  He was the old-fashioned, conscientious artist.  He transmitted his art to his daughter, Mrs. Tomlinson, with whom he worked as long as his health permitted him.

Rev. H. R. Weed, of the Howard Methodist church conducted the simple and beautiful service at the home last Thursday at 2:30 p.m.  Her sermon was based on the Twenty-third Psalm, clause by clause.  Mrs. Helen Tomlinson Woolman, foster granddaughter of Wichita, sang solo and without accompaniment, "Abide With Me," and "Going Home."  The small north room where the casket lay, was a bower of beauty.  Mr. Perrin was one of the gentlest of men, a kind husband and an affectionate father.  He was laid to rest in lovely Grace Lawn.

Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bates and Mrs. Thos. Strawn of Burlington, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. J. Knoblock of Chanute; Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Hathaway, Mrs. Lottie Tomlinson of Severy, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Woolman and Mrs. Nelle Egan of Wichita, and Robt. Perrin came from Fort Scott.
