David W. Usry, 67, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away September 6, 2019 at his home in Sedan.  He was born September 8, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Robert Arnold Usry and Frances (Miller) Usry.

David grew up in and attended schools in Crosby, Texas and Iola, Texas.  He later received his GED and attended Sam Houston State University in Texas with a major in agriculture.  On June 9, 1972, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged on June 7, 1977.

David was united in marriage to Sue Ebert on May 30, 1975 at Fort Lee, Virginia.  They lived in Texas for several years before moving to Sedan, Kansas in 1989.  He worked as a truck driver and rancher.  In 2002, David went blind, and his faith in God was very strong.  He recovered most of his sight by God's grace.

David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, hunting, golf, bowling, and owning Corner Rock Critters with his family raising dogs.  His most enjoyable thing to do was raising his children and teaching them about God and life.

David is survived by his wife, Sue Usry of the home in Sedan, Kansas; three daughters, Cathy (Roger) Sprouse of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Melissa Usry of Sedan, Kansas, and Chelsey Usry of Peru, Kansas; seven sons, Larry (Teresa) Usry of Howard, Kansas, Mike Usry of Oswego, Kansas, and Andy Usry, Adam Usry, Dylan (Abby) Usry, Jared Usry, and Timothy Usry, all of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, Robert Usry, jr. of Texas; one sister, Kathryn Johnson of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jade Usry; one grandchild; and his parents.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 220 N. Chautauqua, Sedan, Kansas with Pastor Mark Davis officiating.  The family has suggested memorials to the Midwest Battle Buddies which may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 which is in charge of arrangements.
