Who’s Lying About Building A Wall?
« on: December 30, 2018, 10:03:25 pm »
Looks Like Hussein and Schumer have been:

And a few years ago Hussein and Slick Willie agreed with Trump:

Can you trust any politician?

If they build the wall, the politicians will let the illegals in a gate or the illegals will find another way inside.  America is very much socialist to ever keep 'em out.

Just my opinion.

And another opinion from someone to generally stays away from this thread........

I personally have had it with Trump.  Shutting down the government and causing thousands of Americans their wages that support their families because he can't convince Congress to support his wall is tantamount to childish behavior............."I am going to take my football and go home."

Does a wall keep out illegal people from entering the country?  I don't know and I don't really care.  What I do care about is that my legal neighbor is suffering because he can't get his paycheck to pay his bills and feed his family because of this idiot's desire to build a wall.

It is time for Congress to take a stand and either build the wall or get this guy out of office.  It is time for us to tell our Congress and our President to stop playing games with American citizen's lives.  In my mind this act of shutting down the government is an impeachable offense.

Just saying.

The little good Trump is doing as President, is more than we deserve.  Trump is doing more good than any other President has done for 30 years or more.

And by the way, the Federal Government does not owe anyone a job or any guarantees of a job.

I think your neighbor is on his own - just like the rest of us.

The Fed's have been playing with Americans' lives for 150 years.  We're captive to the Fed's, that is, the Republicans and modern Democrats.  We're still on our own even though we have to work around the tyranny.

Think liberty.

Hey now larryJ, you’ve revealed yourself to be a reader of ‘Politics’. And now you’ve succumbed to a nice rant. A few others claim that is ‘our’ specialty ‘down here’. Maybe you’ve found an additional calling on this forum. I wonder, by posting here, did you break a silent taboo, a whisper in the coffeehouse that says, ‘don’t comment, just ignore them until they go away’? LOL.

Amazing thing to me about posting is that people’s comments (as rare as they are) take surprising turns. The intention of my post was to point out the hypocrisy of politicians. And responses are comments on the wall. Maybe I should assume politician hypocrisy is a no-brainer and move on. So the Wall it shall be. And wordy I will probably become.

Indeed, it is time for Congress to take a stand. I agree. However, the Senate will never impeach Trump, regardless of how the House votes on it. Impeachment is an ineffectual waste of time, except for political hacks to effect their power base. If you want the Wall voted on and the shutdown ended, do not blame Trump, get the Dems (in this case) to participate in government rather than play politics with their transitory majority in the House.

Let me point out it is not Trump’s wall, his ego issues aside. The Wall was approved by Congress when Bush the Village Idiot sat in the Oval Office. It had bi-partisan support, the House passed the Secure Fence Act 283 - 138, the Senate passed it 80 - 19. It’s Public Law 109-367 if you want to look it up. Bush signed it and politicians immediately began wrangling over the cost and design. So, it appears Trump is now trying to fund what has already been approved.

Here is what is happening (and I’m NOT suggesting you do not know this). Trump’s campaign promised to build the wall. It was hugely popular among the red pills. It attracted new red pill support. When it’s built, it will secure his re-election. The blue pills know this. That is why they refuse to even sit and talk about it. They will try anything to diminish Trump. Who will win that political wrestling match? My guess is the longer Trump blames the Dems for failure to sit in committee and negotiate, the less support Schumer and Pelosi will have in their own Party, and Trump will win out. Pelosi and Schumer are too vain to realize they are slitting their own political throats. (And their powers will be diminishing from an entirely different set of circumstances.)

Big money oddsmakers already are claiming a Trump re-election victory in 2020 (and they are not political pollsters). My guess is the Wall will be underway before that election, even if the military budget pays for it and retains someone like Blackwater to oversee it, and ends out paying well over ten billion for it. Just government business as usual, like cost over runs paid to the aircraft industry for an expensive hi-tech airplane. Zero cost accounting in DC! Not their money, right? Always more where it came from. No worries.

So my $0.02 regarding your neighbor; it isn’t Trump’s fault alone. It is politics as usual, the Dems are as much responsible for failure to respond to resolve a single issue and re-open government. But a good rant is always allowed to point fingers. Your neighbor’s plight, and many others in the same situation, points to a larger societal problem. Families hold too much debt and not enough savings. I'll point my finger in that direction.

BTW, shutting down government is not impeachable, even though it rails against people’s emotions. Here’s a quick look at shutdowns the past fifty or so years. Looks like the red and blue have both used it.
2018 Trump: Jan. 20 to Jan. 23 - 3 days
2018 Trump: Feb. 9 – 1 day.
2013 Obama: Oct. 1 to Oct. 17 - 16 days
1995-1996 Clinton: December 5, 1995, to January 6, 1996, - 21 days
1995 Clinton: Nov. 13 to 19 - 5 days
1990 G.H.W. Bush: October 5 to 9 - 3 days
1987 Reagan: December 18 to December 20 - 1 day
1986 Reagan: October 16 to October 18 - 1 day
1984 Reagan: October 3 to October 5 - 1 day
1984 Reagan: September 30 to October 3 - 2 days
1983 Reagan: November 10 to November 14 - 3 days
1982 Reagan: December 17 to December 21 - 3 days
1982 Reagan: September 30 to October 2 - 1 day
1981 Reagan: November 20 to November 23 - 2 days
1979 Carter: September 30 to October 12 - 11 days
1978 Carter: September 30 to October 18 18 days
1977 Carter: November 30 to December 9 - 8 days
1977 Carter: October 31 to November 9 - 8 days
1977 Carter: September 30 to October 13 - 12 days
1976 Ford: September 30 to October 11 - 10 days

Do I want a Wall? No. It is a waste of billions of dollars of taxpayer’s earnings. It is not Public monies paying for it, regardless of what branch of government budget the Wall fits into. The Public Sector does nothing to earn money, it just irresponsibly spends it. The Wall is billions of privately earned dollars going to waste. It is projects like this, added to cost over-runs, endless military spending, and huge government budgets elsewhere that are destroying the middle class, making life tougher for millions like your neighbors, like many in Elk County Kansas.

But I do want border control. We have always had it. The Colonists had it. Not that either of those are reasons, just facts. I want border control simply by ending every entitlement that immigrants are handed. No food stamps, no free education, no free lunches, no unemployment until they have worked and earned it, no free medical care, no subsidized housing, no low interest loans that are not available to you and me. All of the freebies gone. They aren’t really freebies, nothing is free. They are in each and every case paid for by taxpayers. Like generations before them, immigrants should come here to work and rear their families, to become part of society’s fabric, not part of society’s burden. Without ‘free’ entitlements, that is what will occur while the world’s freeloaders will go elsewhere, or stay home and strive to improve conditions in their home countries. (That is what is needed to resolve the world-wide immigration issue, but is an entirely different discussion.)

I’d really like to see political hacks in DC replaced with Statesmen and Stateswomen. That would seriously change the tenor of conversations (and rants) about walls, immigration and spending. But I fear I ask too much of my Countrymen and Countrywomen to be wise electors. And dang it, you made me rant a little.

Rant on. And remember that old saying we’d spew on the school playground when we were kids, just before or after we stuck our tongue out at some obnoxious brat, ‘Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hurt me.’ Good psychology for kids and adults.

1. I wish to apologize for ranting which is mainly what this thread is for.
2. Thanks for the "Wake-up" which reminds me that although I do read some things on this thread I choose to restrain my comments because I don't like the taste of my foot in my mouth.
3. My own lack of knowledge of politics inhibits me from understanding most of what is happening.
4. I promise to keep my opinions to myself where they are safely stored in my brain.

1) Why? It is what forums/blogs are about. It's all just conversation.
2) LOL, foot in mouth. I haven't been physically capable of that in decades, lucky to cross my legs without cramping.
3) But still justifies your having opinions and perceptions.
4) Why?

Remember the old saying.

Hey - Trump is the President.  He's just another Lincolnite, but social progress doesn't move along as fast with Trump running the show.

Wake-up, you're posting good stuff which I'm in agreement.  Stay right in there.

Redcliff- That's a pretty short list of Trump's doing good. :<))

Thanks, too late to teach an old dog new tricks, anyway. I'll stay the course.
