A Double Wedding Anniversary Celebrated (Webb & Baker)

The 50th anniversary of both Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Baker was happily celebrated on New Year's evening with a six o'clock dinner by relatives and a few invited friends.

The dining room was effectively decorated in keeping with the occasion. While wedding bells with gold and white streamers, large yellow chrusanthemums and a mammoth gold and white wedding cake made the long table very attractive.

After a splendid dinner, prepared by the daughters and daughters-in-law of the honored couples there followed a program of recitations by the small children and appropriate readings by Mrs. Dorris Womacks and Mrs. Nancy Baker.

Four of Mr. and Mrs. Webb's children with their families were present; Russell and Ralph of Moline, Mrs. Bert Turner of Howard and Mrs. Beatrice Niswanger of Palmer Lake, Colo. Mrs. Fannie Farris and Joe Kiphart Webb of Bend, Ore., sent congratulations and love but were unable to attend.

Only two of Mr. and Mrs. Baker's children were present; Mrs. Lotta Rettig and Geo. Baker with their families. John, the eldest son of Cottage Grove, Ore., Kitty Grooms of Dixon, Tenn., and Clara Longacre of North Carolina could not leave their homes. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Baker whose 50th wedding anniversary also comes later within this same year. Brothers and sisters with their numerous familes made up the crowd which numbered between 60 and 70, and who will long remember the happy occasion.

The Courant publisher was well acquainted with the Webbs and the Bakers of the foregoing interesting event before they were married, indeed before they ever became acquainted. They were good friends of ours, we were all members of the young crowd, and the friendship has endured through all these years. We most heartily congratulate them on the long and in the main happy wedded life, and we sincerely hope they may live and enjoy life for many years to come.
