The horses that are used for cowboy mounted shooting must be trained to handle gunfire (black powder blanks) while moving between targets. A good barrel horse trained for gunfire would make an excellent cowboy mounted horse. Mounted Shooting is like barrel racing with balloons in between the barrels. The rider shoots black powder blank cartridges and is scored on accuracy and time.
