"The Lost Battalion"

Howdy,

I realize it's a bit of a stretch.. but they reference Teddy R and the Rough Riders in the movie, so I feel justified. ;)

I like this movie.. I like it a lot.  Maybe I'm too easily swayed by hollywood's manipulations of honor and duty, but in this case, I just don't care.
In the recent Cavalry thread, we talked about WWI.  About the command structure and the way the battles were fought and led.  I find this movie really shows the way of that war, but of course, I wasn't there.

If you haven't seen it, try and catch it when it's shows back up on TV.. or buy it.  I did.
Adios,

Thank you for being you.. Annie Lee!

There is a "Lost Battalion" from the State of Texas.   The 2nd Batt. of the 131 Field Artillery, which was part of the 36th Division. The Battalion was detatched to the Dutch East Indies, when the Dutch surrendered to the Japanese.  The Battalion was in captivity for a pproximately 42 months. The prisoners helped build the "Death Railway" in  Thailand, part of which was the Bridge of the River Kwai. They also worked in mines in Manchuria and Japan until the end of the War.
