Tombstone and others of equal quality??? Ideas?
« on: February 20, 2006, 09:19:07 PM »
I absolutely loved Tombstone.  One of the few movies I have watched so many times I can quote part of it.  Anyone have favorites which include first rate acting. lots of action, excellent period wear, centering around law enforcemet theme?

The Wild Bunch, which I can quote chapter and verse. Seen it about a hundred times since the first time in South San Francisco in '69, including seeing it in Munich in '71, dubbed in German. I guess you could say it has a law enforcement theme, though the law enforcers are an incredibly scummy pack of bounty hunters. Just great in every department: writing, acting, directing, photography, period authenticity and with the most revolutionary editing work seen until that time.

Kid
I have so many favorites, that the fact I can quote from them would be no surprise, but while watching one last week, my wife (who is not a special viewer of Westerns) made this comment:
“I know “you’ve” seen this once or twice (she likes to never exaggerate), when “I” can quote lines from it before they say them!”

As far as newer westerns are concerned...Tombstone in my eyes, takes the cake.

I don't think there is a better Doc Holliday then Val Kilmer...His dry sense of humor, confidence, and "hypocrisy" make the movie.

Anyone know of a good source for "Tombstone" related things such as a Coffee Cup with Tombstone Arizona, or "Wyatt Earp" or just the title "Marshall" on it?
