Shot Show

Got to spend some time talking to Beretta's "historical expert" about the Laramie.  We wondered if anyone would buy consecutive serial numbered revolvers if they were imported.  Apparently getting pairs is hard.  Something about never knowing what serial number the guns were going to show up with.  Still he indicated that they might try to do this.

Saw the Chinese lever action shotgun.  Looked nice.  First shipment is in the country.  They were all sent to a gunsmith for checkover before going to the distributors.  RSR and Lew Horton, and maybe others, should have them in about a month.

Talked to one of the Spencer importers.  They viewed the gun as "economical" for a Spencer but a gun that needed someone with a lot of mechanical ability to get it to work properly.  Was a little surprised at that response.  Apparently they weren't pushing that gun.

The Colt fellows said that the most common question that they were getting was was Colt still in business.  Apparently they had called back and asked.  As far as they knew they still were.

Winchester was there.  They are closing down at the end of March.

klw,

Someone should have told the Beretta "historical expert" that his Laramie is out of "historical context" (as it were) because of it's incorrect calibre chambering.  Hope someone during the show told them to get off their rear ends and put out a .44 Russian and/or a .44-40 model, then maybe it will be slightly closer to "historical". Phew!
