Military Henry frame
« on: January 24, 2006, 07:57:21 AM »
In the Navy Arms add for the Military Henry it states in part;

"This N-SSA approved rifle features a specially designed reinforced frame to stand up to the rigors of Skirmishing and Cowboy shooting."

What is reinforced in the frame and does it acctually make a difference?

Sounds like an un-needed pitch to me, too.  C'mon - how much stress does a BLANK put on a frame?!

When I was trying to decide whether or not to get my 1866, I read an article from a SASS top shooter who pointed out that the "brass" is actually a modern artillery bronze, which is CONSIDERABLY tougher than brass, and that his 1866 had fired over 70,000 rounds thru it with no appreciable wear.

That was good enough for me!

Hype! >:(

Uberti makes two frames, one "brass" and the "iron frame."  The military Henry has the sling swivels which certainly helps the CW reinactor stand up to the rigors of totting that sucker around the battlefeild for a couple of days!  Been there, done that, got the T-shirt! ;D
