I just purchased a '60 Henry carbine from Charlie Bison.

I plan on following in the footsteps of Yellowstone Kelly with this fine carbine.

We had a lively discussion in the NCOWS Chambers regarding the historic provenance of a true Henry "carbine".  We found enough evidence to allow it's use.

It will be one of my NCOWS main match rifles.

The 1860 Henry Board is for anyone interested in all aspects of the history of and shooting that damn "yankee rifle that you load on Sunday and shoot all week". The discussions can also include "The Improved Henry, the 1866 Winchester.

OK. Sign me up. I have an iron frame 1860 Uberti Henry on its way chambered in 44-40. This will be the third I've owned -- and this one will not get away! Grin

I picked up a Civil War Model (Cimarron) Henry in 44wcf this past summer.....sure is sweet.
Does anyone sell the wooden spacer some of you use in the magazine to avoid the "Henry hop"?
Thanks,

Driftwood Johnson made these photos that illustrate how

Major 2,

it does look simple enough. What size is the brass piece, and the diameter of the dowel? Thanks for the info.

I use 1/2" Dowel and a  5/8" or 3/4"  #8 Brass screw (the kind with partial threads and blank shank below the head ) then grind off & file the flat head till it's a # 8 Dia. pin. Pre-drill a pilot hole but don't go through the dowel.
A drop of epoxy on the threads, insures the screw will not loosen, the blank shank pin should be about 1/8"- 5 /16" proud of the dowel.

Sorry about that. This is the only photo I have at the moment. As soon as I get a photo made of the 66 I'll post it also.

Thanks.

Hello Gents, if this is the official membership form, I'll put my name on the dotted line. Started shooting a Model 66 Uberti approx  two years ago, caliber 44 Special. Plan on shooting 44 Colt black powder out of her someday, but so far have regulated it to 44 Spec. rds. Bought it and a '72 Open Top Colt (44 Spec/44 Colt) as a pair from Cimarron. They make a good pair. I shoot black in the 44 Colt rds and smokless in the 44 Spec rds. Love em both. Enjoy reading the posts on this section of CAS and all of the CAS City forum, been doing so since Jan of 09, joined Feb of this year. Yers, Crow Choker

Boilerplate Jackson here. Would like to sign on with my Navy Arms 1860 Henry 44/40. I have had it since 1999
and give it occasional use. Took it with me to Ft. Harker, Kansas for the Old Forseyths Scouts reunion, and portrayed scout
AJ Pliley. Survivor of Beechers Island. Interesting forum, and love to learn more.
