Prayer request
« on: January 22, 2021, 04:23:01 PM »
In the past, I have asked for prayers on my behalf and was gratified with many responses.  I ask for them yet again.

I am facing a urostomy on an emergent basis due to radiation damage of my bladder and urethra. The good news is that the cancer has been defeated, but it came at a price.

I am well supported by my loving wife who has endured the process at my side while keeping up with all her other duties and responsibilities. A couple of nurses who aided me should be nominated for sainthood.

The only prayer I can make on my own behalf is: "Lord, I've had a good life. Cure me or kill me."

Sounds morbid, but it's not. It's recognition that I have had a good life and I don't want to face the death I've watched others slowly die from. I want to spare that pain for my wife.

Thanks to one and all!

I am undergoing a preliminary procedure today but I have to wait wait 3-4 weeks for a 4-5 hour window of operating time. Covod 19 has caused a back up and many cancellations. Hospital beds are at a premium.

And yet there are those who still deny the epidemic and refuse to observe the protocols.

Ten years ago as I was being positioned for an MRI when I was first diagnosed, I tried to pray and could not. But - what came to my mind and heart were these words: " I touched the hem of his robe and was healed according to my faith."

Following treatment, I was cancer free for 10 years. I now reach out for that hem in faith for yet another 10 years-  or more.

Again, heartfelt thanks for the prayers! Without them I would feel discouraged. My faith has been my anchor throughout my life and I've survived a lot of things that should have killed me.

I'm looking forward to the operation when it happens as I have too much to live for, starting with my loving wife who is now a competent home nurse. One of her sons had a birth defect that required her 24/7 care for 2 years, so she is not fazed by what is required now.

There are many with much worse conditions than mine who have led successful lives despite all odds. I intend to be one of them.  ;D

Thanks again!

I have a date for surgery in a month's time. Things are backed up due to Covid. I just got off the phone talking to a nurse about all the pre-op stuff.

It's going to be major surgery with all the associated risks, but since I'm healthy otherwise, no undue complications are anticipated.

Going to be a loooong month's wait ......  :-\

Psalms 91 my Brother.

That's my anti-Covid Psalm.

Right now my go-to Psalms are Matthew 4:23 and Matthew 9:20-22. Check 'em out  ;)

Particularly the latter of the two.

For Covid I use 2 Chronicles 7:14

" if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. "
