Prop Pistol from "Lonesome Dove"

From the IMFBD Internet Movie Firearms database , this oddity used on "Lonesome Dove"
these were the Comancheros that chased Gus...

I have no idea why it was used  ???   definitely a period continuity snafu
when planets align...do the deal !

The movies Firecreek and Five Card Stud do the same thing with their handguns.  They just try to dress them as SAA guns...but they reload by breaking the cylinder and ejecting the shells like an Official Police ir New Army

Gail Davis in her Annie Oakley tv show used Colt police positives with ejector rods hung on them. When I watched her show as a kid I never noticed, always thought she was cute. I actually saw her Colts at either the NRA museum in VA or the Cody museum, don?t recall which anymore.
