Afternoon all.

The weather forecast people said our high today should be 81.  The thermometer just broke 102, so I think they were wrong.

I transplanted some pumpkin plants last night.  They were sprouted in a plastic cup, and they finally got big enough to move.   I also put up a better fence around my one vegetable patch.  The old one was just a square of chicken wire that I had sort of ballooned over the top of the plants, but they got too tall.  So now I have an actual vertical fence.  Also put some shade cloth up over some of my more sensitive plants.

Raining here on the coastal plain.  Looks to have set in for the day.  Good day for prepping brass and some leather work.

Rain here as well, then between the showers some times heavy,  hearing sporadic fireworks and gunfire out here in the sticks... I snuck in some load testing on my back acreage myself.

then got a couple Chicago hot dogs @ Sonic's in town ( passable ) and unsweet tea....   listened to old Doo Wop on U-tube
felt very 4th. of July-ish.

Afternoon all.  And happy independence day.

We had a weather shift here that blew a bunch of smoke in from the south valley.  So I can't see the mountain above my house today.  On the one hand, it's kept the temp in the low 80s.  On the other hand, it jacked the humidity up to 70%, and it smells like living with your head in a chimney.

I have partaken if just about all of the festivities I care to today.  Went and had a pancake breakfast this morning put on by the local Lions Club and Volunteer Fire Department.  Did the anvil firing all though that (if you don't know what that is, look it up on YouTube).  There was a parade at noon, which was one of the longest that I can remember.  There a bunch more stuff going on through the weekend, but I'm one for staying home.

As Drew Gonzalez would say, You stay free America.

Had the charcoaler fired up, guest here for steaks 🥩 of course the rain came in. Steaks and food carried inside to eat.  Tried fresh pineapple 🍍 grilled also. Sweetened it up even more.  Will do that again.

Used lump charcoal not the pressed gas infused stuff

Did a 9 hour shift.

Wieners from Twin Loups Meat Market in St Paul Nebraska for supper.  If they are as good as the the two kinds of beef sticks with says we may have to take a road trip. ;D

Afternoon all.

Currently 85, and still Smokey.

Took the dog out for the first time in almost a week last night.  She's been stuck on a leash walking through the neighborhood because of her foot.  But last night I figured a short walk on a trail would be okay.   We did a half mile, and that made a very happy dog.

I'll stir the coals for the night crew.

Today's high was 90, with 45% humidity.

That's pretty much it, really.

We have a chicken with an impacted crop as well, but that seems to be straitened out now.

Also, I ordered a Lee hand press reloading set today.  See if I can get acceptably skilled to load some ammo during college, since money will be tight.    I should mention here that it looks like I'll be getting a pretty new Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Special as payment for helping a friend clear an acre of land.  Hence the reloading hopes, 'cause that old cartridge ain't cheap.
