It not just the 1" either....

It tends to alter placement of my cheek and sight picture.  I liked the feel of heavier 20" barrel , more than the 17"  youth Henry,
I might could even work around the 1".  :-\
But I don't know if I can get around the totally different cheek weld on my standard the Golden Boy.
I have to work to get a sight picture, it just does not fall in place.....course when I do it's tack driver.

I'm going to order a Youth stock, I think it will do the trick , news @ 6  :)

Columbus Day USPS closed so the Stock was delayed till this evening ... what a NICE piece !  Straight grain walnut complete with the fitted Brass butt.
An EZ swap and will trick the LOP to a comfortable shoulder....  :)

IMHO Henry could have done better with the stock design on the Golden Boy rifles.

I looked into getting a Youth model butt stock for my Golden Boy, but Henry couldn't promise to match the forestock. Their advice was to sell it and buy a Youth model.

It wasn't hard to fund a buyer for it and now I have the Youth Model. I hit anything and everything I shoot at with shorts or LR.

As I mentioned, I contacted them, they sent a new Youth stock for $70 shipped !
Acted sorta like it was a rather commonplace , I certainly was not the first to go this route.

The received stock is color & grain match for the OEM.... They then followed up with call to ask if it arrived in good order.

I suppose I'll off the OEM for sale, I never expect to put it back on ....someone may need  it  :-\

Cimarron currently lists the Uberti 1866 as a 24" rifle and 19" carbine in .22LR. Suggested price a little over $1200.

Which is why they don't sell a lot of them .....

Here are the comparison photos....the 1" is huge in ease to shoulder, cheek weld and LOP.

For me ,the little rifle has been transformed,  both stocks are straight grain walnut , the Youth stock has a bit more visible .
Henry does offer a presentation grain beautifully figured set, stock & forearm, however at $350 on what I plan as utility plinker I would pass on that....@ $70 shipped this was no brainer.

Fit and finish is spot-on and the install took 5 minutes .....took way longer to take the attached photos.
