'73 dimensional question
« on: March 31, 2018, 04:23:49 PM »
Quick question on dimensions: Could someone please tell me the measurements around the action (at the triggerguard), and the overall length, of a 20" barreled '73?  I've got a project in mind but I'm not sure how much difference there is between a '73 and the '92 I have on hand for a pattern.

Thanks,
Jim

It's hard to know exactly how you want it measured, but here are some photos to help.  I'll post this in two sets--here is the receiver...

CC Griff, that's exactly what I needed, thanks!  Looks like 10.5" around the hammer and trigger guard, OAL of around 39.5".

I've had this idea floating in my head for a while of building a beaded buckskin sheath for an early-model Winchester, problem was I don't have an early-model Winchester on hand to do the pattern with.  I'll start the paper sketches this week, then the beadwork and sewing. . . I think once I get it done, it will get out of my head and I can get on with other projects.  If not, I'll have to be getting a new rifle.

Thanks again!
Jim

I'm glad to have helped.  To save you the cost of a new gun, just ship the completed sheath to me--I'd promise to put it to good use.  ;D
