Thank you Sir Charles for the post. My father in law was a Navy Corpsman assigned to the 5th Division and was in the first wave ashore. He said he saw the flag raised twice on Mt. Sarabuchi.

just love the energy and U.S. commitment of the era to win. capital ships of a by gone era!   nothing like direct fire with a 16" rifle.
