Internal changes between 1st and 3rd

Need to tap into some knowledge if possible. I have two 1st Models and only one working bolt. The earliest one is too rusted, looking at one online but it is a 3rd Model. Any fitment/use issues? I do know my bolts both have an adjustable face to set headspace I presume, and the images of the later bolts do not have this. Does that present a use or functionality problem in anyone's experience?

Was not aware that is an adjustable face. I believe that is just the way the bolts were made and assembled with a plug in the front. My guess is Winchester set the headspace with the barrel just like we do today.

Hey Scrubby , the 1st and 3rd model 1873 bolt's will fit / work in your 1st model 1873 Winchester,,, . . Just make sure you use a 1st model firing pin in a 1st model bolt , same for the 3rd model firing pin and 3rd model bolt . ,,,,,DT
