Disassembling question
« on: December 30, 2017, 04:08:58 PM »
 Hi guys
Im a new guy on the forum.Just bought a Spencer Carbine with a broken front trigger screw.
I got the 2 other screws out but I am not sure how to remove the plate because the trigger is in the way.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated....

The plate, if you mean the lock plate, that should come out without removing the trigger plate.  Try moving the trigger forward to clear the sear.  If you mean the trigger plate, then you need an easy out to remove the broken screw.

Hello:

One important aspect is that the hammer MUST be at half-cock before removing the lock or the tail of the sear bar WILL catch on the wood and drag off a nasty splinter.  I have seen a few that had the interference point on the sear bar ground away to prevent this, but don't count on it.
