Consolidating and sorting ammo. . .
« on: December 13, 2017, 05:37:19 PM »
Black Powder, of course.  I had many flats of loaded ammo that I've been putting in boxes.  So far, I really don't have to reload any ammo for the 2018 season, but I will.  Seems I've been reloading ammo for myself and several others.  For Christmas I gave them a Tower of Power cylinder loading stand all set up for depriming brass.  Hopefully they will bring me deprimed brass all ready to be cleaned and loaded.  Winter is still long.  We shall see.

Well, this is the off-season for most of us so it is a good time to load ammo for next year. I have more than enough ammo for my wife and I to get through the 2018 cowboy season, but I know I'll be down in the basement loading more during the winter months. Just because its a nice, relaxing thing to do and never having to sweat the ammo supply feels good! Or you could do what a cowboy shooter friend of mine(now deceased, so long Jack) did when I picked him up one morning on the way to a match. He answered the door in his underwear :o ! :o and said to come in for a few minutes as he had to finish loading enough ammo for that days match ::) I like my approach better!!

As coffin pointed out  a Clean Shop, like a clean desk, is the sign of a Sick Mind.

Without a nice soft layer of sawdust on the workbench and floors, the dropped screws go skitterring all over the place;
and it absorbs ummmm   ... liquids .... for easy shovelling sweeping once per lustrum.

that's my story and I'm sticking to it

Professor ... I have not fallen to the bottom of the barrel for a sawdust floor - it's concrete.  And for the dropped screws, my metal detector is really a tool that every gun room should have! ;D

A large magnet with a handle helps as well.

My shop has a HAZMAT sticker on the door.
Is there any hope for me?
Or is this about right?

I'm getting my bench so sorted out that I can now actually see the top surface.  Next thing you know, I'll be wiping it down with lemon oil.  The top is made up of hard maple glued edge up and is about 3" thick.  The whole rig is mounted on a heavy stainless steel frame with drawers below, Hard wood top and a SS shelf above.  It really deserves to be seen, not hidden under years of reloading stuff.
