Decapping Pin
« on: December 10, 2017, 05:47:57 AM »
I have a Winchester 1882 loading tool for 44/40 with the original decapping pin. When I deprime a case the pin gets stuck in the case and have use a kinetic bullet puller to get the pin out of the case . I know on end of the pin it has a slight bulge to bell the case, but it should not stick. In all my other loaders I use a Lee Trim Gauge to deprime with no trouble as they don't have the bulge at the end. All case lenghts are correct 1.305
Thanks for any help.

If the pin is original ? It will most likely stick in a modern case , the modern case is thicker inside , Solid Head .  The pin was designed for old style balloon head case , thinner near the case head Id.. Something to think about if making a new pin to use , The new pin should be a bit smaller in this area .,,,,DT

Dusty, I don't know if you got my emails, but I just wanted to tell you I now need 7 pins for  the 1882 44/40 Loaders as I bought another 1882 loader the other day.
Thanks again,
Reno

Reno, I agreed to make you (6)  decapping pins per your request  . I am not in business making decapping pins . I agreed to make the 6 only to help another collector / shooter of our sport . I will have to limit your order to 6 , as I only have so much time and many projects of my own.   Thank you for offering me to make more , but I am going to have to decline . If you want to stick to our original agreement of 6 in late January , I will make them for you , or if you would rather find someone to make the  amount you are now needing , I understand completely and wish you luck .  ,,,,,,DT My apologies to the Admin, for discussing this here.   .,,,,,,DT

Thank you very much Dusty. Yes please make the 6 pins we talked about, and I will just have to use a Lee Case gauge for the one I just bought. I load all my black powder rounds with the loaders, and think they are as fast as by turret. Kind of get a kick out it as it's like they  used to do it in the old days.
Thanks again Dusty,

Reno

Dusty, thanks anyway I must have misunderstood. Don't know why you got so upset about the pins, but I am sure you have your reason.
Thanks anyway,
Reno
