Been loading C45Spl bp ammo. . . . .
« on: November 21, 2017, 06:11:47 PM »
Howdy the fire,

All my brass is clean, tumbled down to the shine, primed and loadable.  So, I've been loadin' my C45Spl brass with 1.3cc of Schuetzen FFFg under lube sized J/P 45 200 grain Big Lube® bullets lube/sized to .454".  What a pleasure on a quiet evening.  Soon enough, probably too soon, I'll have next season's ammo all loaded up and causing the shelves to sag once more.

Who says the fun is over after the last match?

Thanks Dick,
That load runs just fine in my 1860 Henry but with 1.3 c/c GOEX FFFg. Your  175 grain bullet with that load is a winner in my cartridge guns. Oddly enough my shooting season is starting now since it is finally down below 90. Today is sunny, breezy and 65 degrees life is good in central Texas.

Well Bunk, some here do shoot in winter.  I don't cause I lose too much brass in the snow :P.  I'll spend the off season reloading and planning for 2018. .

Well losing brass in snow is bad, but we had to fence the cows off of the shooting range by popular demand.
I seems they liked to bed down there at night and, since they are not house broken, would leave what I call "organic lad mines" scattered around. City folks complained that retrieving brass from there was not so good.
I kept arguing that it was a fair arrangement, they mowed the grass and fertilized it at the same time but to keep shooters happy we closed the gate.
But it did give the range a real authentic western look...and smell.
Happy Thanksgiving to y'all  from an old broke down cowboy
