FWIW, having this thing in my hands, and playing around with it, has solved something that always has puzzled me about the Rolling block.
The Hammer has always looked wrong to me, awkward, badly shaped for either thumb or fingers.
However, having it on my lap, my hand resting on the action while fooling with the sight, I realized something: The hammer spur is perfectly shaped for the heel of my hand. Thus, with the rifle shouldered, I cock it with the heel of my hand, one finger flipping open the breechblock, the other fingers pulling the cartridge. With some practice it almost becomes one motion, and is surprisingly fast, though none of it is as door kicking instinctive as cycling a Trapdoor. Then grab a cartridge, thumb it in, slamming the block closed again with the heel of the same hand. Damn satisfying in its own way.
