Springfield Trapdoor Carbine Question
« on: November 01, 2017, 08:08:58 PM »
I have an original trapdoor carbine, a gunsmith has verified it is safe to use.  Any recommendations on commercial ammunition which is safe to run through it?  I don't reload (yet) and I would like to use it for side matches.

These are all Black Powder equivalent loadings with all lead 405 grain bullets.  I would avoid jacketed ammunition in your carbine.

You really need to reload, and the Trapdoor shoots it's best with Black Powder.

I had good luck with the one box of Blackhills cowboy that I used at cowboy distances.
