As for coffee, I ave heard wonderful things about Cuban coffee. I have tried their cigars, and found them to be exceptional, so why wouldn't the coffee beans be good as well?

In other news, my boy just bought a New England single barrel shotgun. He was told they are hard to find and very desirable. Never heard of them, so, is there any truth to it?

H&R with a different name, don't know why they'd be scarce.  Desirable, decent sigle shot if that's what you want.

Exactly right
Made under several trade names

New England Shotguns =  NEF
Sears
Western Auto
Penny's  Penn-craft
and several other hardware stores  ( Michelson Family Hardware in Kissimmee Florida , carried them with their Michelson logo rolled on )

Entry level  grade , serviceable and stout ... hard to find ? ..No ,  desirable ?  as inexpensive Pickup perhaps

Morning all.

Rain and white stuff has returned to the valley.  Supposed to get 1" of rain in the next 12 hours, higher elevations calling for 12"+ of the white stuff.

I like those NEF shotguns.  My first gun was a youth model 410.  Still one of my favorite guns.  My cousin got the one my grandpa bought in 1955 (two years before he met my grandma) when grandma died.  That was a sweet one.  It was a "fancy" model, with oil finished walnut and charcoal-blued barrel.  The only gun in his giant collection that didn't get sold for drugs/beer. :-\

Going to take the dog out later and start teaching her to hunt squirrels.  SHe's good at tracking, and she trees them pretty well, but she's gun shy and despite being a Labrador RETRIEVER, doesn't always retrieve...

Yep, made some 30-30's on the same frame and I think 219 Zippers.

H&R one time made a run of the small frames that came in a handy carry case, one frame, 3 barrels, 20 ga, 30-30 and 22 Hornet, wish I'd of been smart enough to buy one.

Humid and calm on the coastal Tejas plain.  In the 60's right now.
Work is rather underpopulated, and busy....seems every time we shut equipment down to fix it, another problem rears its head.

I hear the chatter on the 2 ways from the maintenance people on the weekends and overnight. They seem to get started on one job and then discover a new priority problem.  Believe me when i say a break is a priority.

Well..we took our gas turbine down for scheduled maintenance.  After start-up, it developed an oil leak.  It didn't have one before the scheduled outage!  It ran through the weekend. Took it back down yesterday to find and fix the leak.  Now, manpower is getting hard to come by since it is Thanksgiving week.   We count on the until for the steam that is generated more than for the power, and the rest of the plant is running h#ll bent for election, and it is tough to keep up without the unit.  On top of it all, one of the support boilers has a leak, and can't be shutdown until the gas turbine is repaired.  I will certainly be glad when the construction and start-up is completed on the new power plant.....we will have some extra steam and electrical capacity then....at least until operations figures out ways to make more product, or at least waste the steam!

Morning all.

Raining and 55 in California at current.   I'm trying to put off walking the dog until the rain slacks off a bit sometime around 1400.

I'm not dumb enough to go hiking there.  ::)

Cut up Dad's deer today. Took Mom to Oshkosh to pick up a rental 'til the Caravan is fixed.

Since nobody's up yet, I'll build up the fire and put the pot on.

Regular firearms deer season over here, my total harvest 2. Still have a 3 day "antlerless only" season in a couple of weeks, and an "alternative methods" season during the Christmas-New years week.

Wife tagged one with the Trailblazer, but with minimal damage. Just busted a "chrome"(IE, shiny plastic) piece in the grill.

Side note, getting really tired of this computer, spacebar only works half the time. Gets old going back to break of those "compound words" that run on for a whole sentence. >:(

That is just the way i type ::)
Thanks for the Coffee...good luck with the deer chase.

Slim, i had a herd of deer try to commit mass suicide on my Jeep, in Virginia, a year or so before i left there.  Insurance wanted to total it. I made them pay for repairs. It was paid for and i wouldn’t have got enough to buy a decent vehicle. Still driving it today body looks good... but i never recomend one of these to any one.  It’s The Liberty model. 198k on it but lots of replacement parts. Some twice.

Got some errands to run this morning then help finish up the items we are cooking for family feast down at the farm.
