Remington Pug refinished
« on: September 08, 2017, 08:49:23 PM »
This afternoon I detail-stripped the Pug I made for my buddy, polished and steel-wooled all of the old finish off and immersed the barrel, cylinder and loading-lever in Van's Instant-Blue for about ten minutes. I coated everything with WD40 for about forty minutes before buffing everything thoroughly with a towel and reassembling. Van's is the best cold-blue I've used; of course it doesn't penetrate as well as hot bluing but it's much more effective and durable than other cold-blues I've used. I'm very happy with the results, and I think my pal will be too.

Greetings My Good Tinker -

You did a nice job on that one, and it has the look of a revovler that has "just had the new knocked off"
ie - seen just a bit of "use and holster wear" .

Altho I am still enamoured with your own gated conversion and the 3.5 " one....

I hope he is going to shoot real BP in it.  The fireball should be quite impressive!  :)
