Hi guys,

I hope it's within the rules to post a gunbroker link and discuss it, else mods please delete.

I have a 'thing' for trapdoors and have an 1888 carbine and 1893 cadet model.
I'd like to add a standard infantry rifle and this one has me intrigued:

Regardless of the price being asked, does anyone think the case hardened colors are just 'too nice'?
Or maybe I'm overthinking it?

No, I'd say it's original.  One of our Colorado members recently bought a M-1884   The wood on his might not be quite as nice as on this one but the metal is about the same condition. The front sight blade on his is so new and sharp that Niederlander cut himself on it. The colors on it are nearly identical to this one.

I agree, original.  i've got one that looks much the same.  Trapdoor Case hardening seems deeper, more durable than most.

Civilize them with a Krag . . .
