And.... As I found out with my failed attempt, early barrels don't work in later model guns. The threaded end of the barrel is too short for the stronger, later frames. I picked up a 44-40 barrel on Ebay (not this one) for $220, and went through some expense and lots of frustration trying to make my recent 45 Colt Henry a 44-40. As it turned out, it would have cost me more to re-machine the barrel to fit the receiver. I got a refund from the seller, and ended up selling the 45 Henry and buying a 44-40 for just about the price I got for the 45, and the price of the refunded barrle, instead of several hundred to make a square peg fit in a round hole.
