Johnson County Wyoming War
« on: August 08, 2017, 06:11:42 AM »
I received the following (thank you Bat) and wondered if anybody here might be interested.

"The historic TA Ranch, south of Buffalo, Wyoming, is the site of the last battle of The Johnson County War. This year is the 125th anniversary of that incident. The TA Ranch is re-creating part of that 1892 battle and needs 12-16 cavalry soldiers. Civil War and Indian War uniforms accepted. No shooting necessary. The ranch will provide horses, food, lodging and is working on a grant to pay folks as well.  Arrive on Friday, 15 September; shoot the battle on Saturday; leave Sunday, 17 September. A head count is needed quickly as possible. Please contact Monarch Productions to attend: monarchproductions@earthlink.net"

No shooting is required;)  The small ranchers knew better than to get into a shootout with the regulars.   Cattlemen's Association members and their hired guns knew the Army was the only thing between them and a rope.

I'm sure the TA ranch has plenty of horses, but what about McClellan saddles, military tack and saddle blankets?
Happy Trails

I received the following forward from Kit Peak Kid. It sounds as though he's planning to participate.

"Hi Kendal... you are welcomed to bring your own tack. The TA is now a guest ranch, so they have trail horses and modern tack. The TA owners aren't overly concerned if some things are not period correct. Are you interested in participating? Know any one else who might be?

Thanks, David & Lee "

But, if you were to make an effort to be period correct and educate the public, I'm sure they'd applaud you. ;D ;D

Man...I need to move up toward that end of the country.  Maybe it wouldn't matter too much, as I still would be much of an equestrian!

That would be fun and I have the outfit but that's the opening days of deer, elk, and antalope season.
