Jim Downing, the Gun Engraver
« on: June 29, 2004, 12:11:31 PM »
Last weekend at the The Southern Missouri Rangers monthly shoot, I had the pleasure of meeting Jim Downing. He has been walking the streets of Cas City from to time.

Jim is famous for his gun engraving and has become a familiar name in CAS. For those not familiar with his work, look up his webpage at http://www.thegunengraver.com .

Yup Jim is a great guy.  He says he's not an artist but rather a craftsman.  I beg to differ with him.  he did the 73 that I have pictured else where on this forum.

Most all the Pards I've shot with have a bit of Jim's handiwork somewhere on their revolver or suchlike, and to a one they all say its a pleasure to add a little bit more every year or so! Pretty soon their firearms will all look like museum pieces and nobody will want to shoot them, HAH!
Best regards and good shooting!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim at Mule Camp.  He did an outstanding job on my Birdshead while I was there.  I plan on sending him some more work.
Revenue man wanted granddaddy bad, headed up the holler with everything he had, before my time but I been told, he never come back from Copperhead Road.
