Range Work
« on: June 27, 2017, 09:46:17 AM »
Gentlemen and Ladies of the GAF.

With the conclusion of this years Muster, some significant work will be done on the GAF HQ range.  We are planning a Philippine Village with a small Shoot House,  replacing most if not all our targets with AR-500, and perhaps some more infrastructure in the Camp.

Most of this is funded by Grand Muster Fees.  But some of it, as well as all the labor, comes from the HQ staff up in Nebraska.  Anyone who has been to a Muster will tell you what great value it is for the money.  The great people we have make that possible.

Not only is the Muster a great value, but we have a community and a forum here that has become a valuable resource itself.  People are welcome here, and information is freely and well given.

Yes, I am going to ask for Money.  GAF is a free organization.  We like it that way.  But a small contribution would be well appreciated, and used solely for GAF improvements.  I made this same speech at the Muster banquet, and got a wonderful response.  Well done!

We need things too.  If you've got an old camp cot you no longer use, we want it.  Old lanterns, that old cooler in the corner of the garage, we can use it.  Anything that could be useful in a primitive camp.  Planning to attend a muster, and have a shed in the backyard you want to get rid of?  (we have done wonderful things with chicken sheds and an outhouse!)

IF this sounds like something you would like to help out on, send just a little bit to:

Where in Central Nebraska are you gonna get enough bamboo to build a proper Philippine village? I'm pretty sure red cedar wouldn't be "period correct" for 1898 Philippines!

Oh gawd, I miss you all too! :D

I'm still in the process of getting moved into my new home in Lexington NC, so this year was a no go for the Grand Muster once again. But next year is on the list for "must dew" as I have loosed myself from the ball and chain with the bottomless cup I was wasting my time trying to fill with "honey dew"!

Next year is the Krag Showcase.  Ya gotta be there.  That, and I happen to know if we can get more than one Marine around the fire with a few drinks, it'll be a fine show!  (as long as there is one squid to keep them honest . . . sorta . . .)

Marines best only be telling true sea stories! After all, truth is much stranger than fiction. I got stories that will make your head, ears, eyes, teeth and hair hurt! :D

We all know the difference between fairy tales and sea stories, right?  Fairy tales begin with "Once upon a time........"  and sea stories begin with "This is a no-shi@@er!"
