50-95 Reloading Dies

Hi Everybody!
I recently purchased a new Cimarron 1876 rifle in 50-95. I have, literally, flogged the internet looking for information on the proper dies for reloading this cartridge. There are versions for original 1876s and Ubertis, priced from $55.00 for RCBS Legacy dies to $200.00+ for RCBS dies (original 1876?). The offering from CH/4D falls between those two in price. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on getting a Cimarron 1876 rifle 50/95.  The CH/4D dies that I have been using for reloading the 50/95 seem to be working just fine. Personally I would think any modern made set would give good results after being set proper for your cartridge. Good Luck with it , and How about a pic. ,,DT

i have been using the rcbs dies, the uberti chamber/shoulder is different, but once fireformed i seldom full length resize anyways.the combo works fine though. from memory i think i did make up a new expander plug in a new diameter. was using fireformed .348 brass early on but have now acquired proper cases.

I got the CH4D dies on a trade , if i was to be buying a set  outright it would be the RCBS $55  ones .,,,DT

Thanks, guys! The Legacy dies sound like a good choice. I recently bought dies for my 297-250 and 43 Beaumont, and they were not cheap! I should be picking the rifle up on Wednesday. A few years back, I had a Cimarron 1876 in 45-60 and was very pleased with the quality.

I bought some Jamison cartridges and fired a handful. Either the rims are out of round, or, the little alignment/catch projection on the bolt face needs a tiny bevel. I had to rotate some of the cartridges so the bolt would close properly. Upon firing, the brass definitely expanded. I figured there would be some resistance with the Legacy sizing die, but there wasn't. The brass did not appear to have been FL sized at all. They dropped right into the chamber, though, which was nice. At least the brass will not be overworked. I have some .515" bullets on the way. Cimarron should change their bore/groove spec sheet for the benefit of the uninformed. Cheers!
