Some of my Holsters
« on: May 13, 2017, 01:29:27 PM »
Hi! New here, and fairly new to leather work as well. I started about a year ago, when I bought a .357 Cattleman. It really ticked off the wife when I made that impulse buy, but I had just finished a year of cancer treatment, and felt like celebrating. Blah, blah blah... boring stuff, get on with it!

So, I needed a holster, and couldn't find a western rig anywhere near me. Didn't want to spend a lot, and didn't want to buy something made by child labor in China... so, I bought some stuff and made my own. This was my second holster with a belt-

And this is a shoulder holster I made to replace that-

Then I was asked to make a few more for other folks-

Chest harness-

And of course, once I bought the wife her own pistol-

Needless to say, I think I fell into a new hobby.

Howdy Captain,

Welcome to the Forum.

Looks like you've been in business much longer than one year. Your work is very professional looking.

You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Thank you sir. I'm not quite where I want to be, but way better than I was when I started. You should have seen the first holster, with stitching all wonky, and holes made with a finishing nail and hammer ;) Word of mouth has gotten me far, being surrounded by Georgia gun nuts helps. I walk in to see a doctor about my shoulder, and all he wants to do is talk about holsters...

Thank you sir. I appreciate you letting me slide with the wife's holster, as I didn't read the regs until AFTER posting. For the most part, I try not to step out of line on forums. But, every now and then... stuff happens? ::)

Looks like the straps are going through a skull's eyes on that shoulder holster. Nice!

Depending on which holster, yes, they are, The shoulder holsters have skulls for strap keepers, where the straps go in through the eyes and out the jaw. The chest holster has the straps coming out of the eyes, and the holster itself loops over the bottom jaw. I figured "why do stuff like everybody else?" I do me much better, and it's more fun  ;D

And thank you, and everybody else, for the kind words. I am on another board that is just leather, but most of those folks are into Pancake holsters, or Avenger style holsters. They are ok, but haven't got the personality and style of a good Western holster. I like to stand out a bit, and I hope it shows in my work. I have another commission I'm starting, for an Uberti Cattleman .45LC. I'll post it in about a week when it's done. I finally have all the details I need to start it, so I may not be around much for a few days.
