Case coloring on the new reproductions

I'm pretty sure that Uberti does chemical case coloring - I know they use it on their single actions with an option to get actual bone charcoal case coloring.  What does Miroku use - chemical or bone charcoal?

I think it is a bit misleading to call the Italian case colors a "chemical process."  Ruger did that, and they washed off or rusted easily.  Uberti heats the parts in a bath of salts, then dunks them in cold water.  Yes, this is case-hardening.  It is just not bone-meal case hardening, and thus has different colors and the hardening is not very deep.

To be clear, that is what Uberti has done for many years, but in the last few years their colors have become more vibrant so I'm not sure if they have changed anything.  Pietta's colors look similar so I expect they do something similar.

In the case of Miroku, the frames I have seen could easily pass for Uberti, so I very much doubt they are using bone-meal.

Thanks Abilene!  I was never a big fan of the Uberti colors vs Colt or Turnbull.  I was hoping for something more "authentic" from Miroku.  At least in the pics I've seen online they look closer to Colt CC.

You can get the bone case coloring on an 1873 rifle too. You just have to order it.

You mean on a Uberti I'm assuming right?  I did that once before on a Cimarron SAA that I ordered once.

Uberti=Manufacterer. Cimarron=Importer.

Yes on a Cimarron. Uberti doesn't do it, Cimarron outsources it once the gun is stateside. I have it on four guns from them.
