Replacement base pin screws
« on: April 12, 2017, 11:12:43 PM »
I love my Uberti 7th Cav and Old West revolvers.
However I find those knurled exposed base pin screws aesthetically annoying.
Where can I get flush base pin screws?
I took a cursory look at the VPI website and didn't see one.

This comes up all the time and Uberti does not explain it well or actually at all.  The knurled screw is NOT for shooting.  It is just in there to facilitate demonstrating the safety notch in the base pin for importation purposes.  In the box under the cardbord folds is the actual screw you are supposed to use when you shoot the gun.  If you have lost the screw you can get them from VTI.  Just call and tell them you need the basepin screw for a blackpowder frame.  You can also try Cimarron.

Wow.  Didn't know that.  I threw out the boxes a couple years ago.
I'll give VTI a call.  Thanks for that.

Never throw original gun boxes out...... Keep them....... It will keep the value of the gun higher, and as you found out, You might be throwing small parts out. When I look at buying used guns, I always edge to the ones that are for sale with the original box, and the papers that came in it.

I agree with your point and I used to keep all my boxes...
Until I was choking on all the boxes.
So I decided, at my age, and the unlikelihood of selling most of my guns, and my ability to absorb any hit to selling a gun without a box, for the sake of simplicity I threw them (mostly) away.  :)

Hi Hatman,

Now that it's well too late ......  ::)   In your box was a chunk of styrofoam used as a spacer.  The tiny screw of which you seek "was" stuck in the piece of styro, secured by a small bit of Scotch Tape.   ;D

I've learned throughout my life my inattentiveness costs me money, but I budget for that.   :P
