A New Project ... ??
« on: April 07, 2017, 10:45:59 AM »
I've been thinking about a New Rifle project.  I've built Trappers out of almost Everything.  Henrys, '66s, '73s.  But .... no Take Downs.  I have seen and worked on 1892 take Downs, A custom Marlin Take Down, I owned an 1894 Take Down at one time and of course 1897 Take Downs.

I can't remember seeing an 1873 Take Down, other than a .22 and I didn't see how it came apart.  So ... the question is ...... TA DA .... Has anyone ever seen, fondled, drooled over or even suspected an 1873 Take Down???  Maybe a site of some obscure custom builder who has turned out a '73 Take Down ????

If I recall correctly, Doug Turnbull has produced takedowns in 1876 and 1873 models.

Coffinmaker that would be a very interesting project. Have you found any info on a T/D 73 ? As MBM said i also think  Doug Turnbull may have built a T/D 76 .   Look forward to any new development . ,,,DT

I saw a 1873 TD at s gun show a few years ago. No idea who did it or if it was factory. I built a model 92 TD that I use for deer hunting and carry on motorcycle. Wrote a whole article with pictures on my web site.   Www.rvbprecision.com
