'Rifleman' match, anybody tried it?
« on: April 07, 2017, 08:34:40 AM »
Just thought that I would throw this out there. We've all probably shot Josey Wales matches with just our revolvers but has anyone thought of doing a Chuck Connors Rifleman match with a second rifle replacing the 2 pistols? Only concerns that I see would be extra time for the brass pickup, carrying 3 long guns ( have a gun bearer) and possibly warmish loads for close pistol targets. Also, rifles would be shot from the shoulder not the hip. Don't want anything over the berm. I have used a second rifle in some of my past matches that I've created but it was a stage gun in .22. Just a thought.

I like shooting Gunfighter too much to give up shooting my revolvers for a match.

Why not try it as a side match?

Two years ago we had a rifleman stage where we fired the rifle from the hip at a large target.  Just a tip, don't fire it from the hip while wearing an unbuttoned vest, as it has a tendency to get in between the lever and the stock when levering.

Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt.
