Thank's to all, for the words of encouragement.  So far this project has been fun and the parts are not just sitting in a box . If anything they are all in one place now. If there is some time for the project between Grandson's baseball games this wknd. Will get started on the magazine plug and follower.  Had two pieces of original 1876 magazine tube , soldered them together for this project , instead of using the remanufactured tube that has been pictured. Yep I'm a bit that way! ,,, Y'all have a fine wknd. ,,,DT

Dusty, your carbine project is amazing!!! Your skill level and patients far exceeds mine. You'll be happy to hear after a lot of procrastination and car and truck projects, I just got my 1876 finally put together. I just can't find where I put my forend cap screws lol. Thank you for your help with my barrel!

Trapped inside today ( Tropical Storm ) Bunch of rain!!! ,,, Made the best of it , cut a copy Of a Type 8 Magazine button Lapped the bore of the project gun with a poured lead slug and Extra fine compound . The old bore brightened up and still slugs a tight .458 . When the rain stops , have a few target loads used in another 76 . They should be just fine for testing the little carbine / short rifle  combo.  Hope Y'all had a better day than I did . ,,,DT

Mr. Dusty sounds like a good day for being trapped inside!!  Enjoy the updates on the project, keep em coming!!

On a different note, I have been trying for weeks to get out and run a few through the 45-75 myself.  If anyone mapped out just how busy I  would be in 'retirement', would never have believed them!!

Thanks again for sharing the updates!!!

P.B.

Update ,,, The little 45/60 parts gun is all together . It holds three cartridges in the very short magazine, and is very handy coming up to shoulder. Added a folding rear barrel sight and a Lyman tang sight . It has a very good feel and sight picture for me. Should test a few rounds through it soon . Then start the finish work on the wood and metal parts. ,,,DT

Very nice stock work there Dusty. She's going to be sharp but I don't know if I like the short magazine though. I think I would have allowed one more round's worth of mag tube to extend past the forarm. Pretty work. You have a lot of talent.

Howdy DT,
just looked at your post today for the first time. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that spends more time and money putting old stuff (guns, cars, bicycles, wood working hand tools , etc.) together than a new one costs. I guess we're just weird like that. You do some fantastic work . Some gun stuff I have to farm out , but not much. Keep up the good work. Have you test fired it yet ?
Keep it up,
Isom
