Hope it becomes an addiction. Just my 2nd revolver (I'm a Colt 1911 guy, if you know what I mean)

Very nice!  I have been thinking about one of these myself.  When did Pietta start building them?  All of the other 7th Cav SAAs I have see were built by Uberti.

What say the experts?

I said Pietta because that does not look like Uberti color case work.

Thanks fellas.

From what I've been told, Cimarron Uberti's have a higher quality standard before they're sold under the Cimarron name.

You are right Big Mak. I posted this a few days ago, it was very informative. Be sure to watch all three parts though.

Regarding the higher quality standards.  The actual "quality" of an Uberti made for different importers should be equal (internal parts are the same, with equal fitting).  Cimarron does specify various features on their guns that other importers do not have, mostly regarding cosmetics and markings (and the hammers).   Regarding the case colors, Uberti upped their game in recent years, possibly as a result of Pietta's more colorful frames.

I work for Cimarron so I do know whereof I speak.  ;)

Big Mak, those are nice pics, and I particularly like that you pictured it with the correct basepin screw installed.  I hate seeing nice pics of guns with the ugly knurled thumbscrew in place  :)

PLUS ONE to Abilene.

I normally start a fight when the Cimarron has a "higher standard" stuff shows up.  It isn't true.  There is only one line of guns at Uberti.
There is a difference in Roll Stamps and Marking placement.  That's it.  The rest of the guns are the same, whether the gun has Taylors roll marks, EMF roll marks or Cimarron roll marks.  Same frames, barrels, grips, lock works.  All the same.

Pietta has pushed Uberti real hard.  Really real hard.  After EMF introduced the "new" Great Western II, folks discovered Pietta was building a better mouse trap.  Uberti started to scribble to improve their line.  They have seriously improved their line.  As a retired Gunplumber, I still see the Pietta built guns as the best value for dollar in CAS guns.  Cimarron guns are, for the most part, prettier, but take more work
to set up than Pietta built guns do.  Bottom line though.  You can't really go wrong with either.

PS:  Almost forgot.  That happens to be a really really nice gun.

Yeah, never go FULL CUSTER! Well, I just did!  ;D

The trapdoor history: 32" barrel, shipped to Oregon National Guard in 1894 (It has an 1883 cartouche, I have no history before 1894)
Best friends father picked it up in a pawn shop, still in cosmoline, near Tacoma WA in the 1950's.
He bought it to go deer hunting with his BIL who also bought one. BIL's rifle was stolen a few years later.
My best friend's father passed in 2001, and best friend move to Aussie so he had a firearm sale as it's tough to get boom sticks into Oz as an American. :)  "Quigley Down Under" no more!

I've been shooting it for 3 years now. Beautiful piece of history, color casing still pristine, bore shiney....but it was lonely. That's my excuse for the Cav revolver! Wife bought the story!

I have a revolver just like this that I bought because of the threat of the retractable firing pins.  I mentioned the possible change and my lovely bride said, "You'd better buy one now."  I took her up on it!
