When I joined the GAF it was primarily a cowboy action shooting organization with uniforms and I had never shot a cowboy match. I was primarily a reinactor/living historian but had shot some BPCR. The GAF has evolved over the years. We still are an action shooting organization, but we have a format that is all our own.
The Grand Muster is a match that participants say truly needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated. It combines the action match with long range (out to 300 Yds.) and a precision pistol match.
