HUSQVARNA Hammer Double - Part Deux
« on: December 05, 2016, 07:24:12 PM »
Oh for JOY.  Now have my Brandy Knew-Two-me Husky Hammer Double.  Gonna have to polish the chambers a mite.  then figure out what to do about the crack in the left barrel.  Other than that, a really nice gun.

Noticed something interesting though.  Other than a minor difference at the breach, the Husky Hammer Double and my J P Sauer Hammer Double action and receiver are almost exactly the same.  Same back action floating locks, Same hammers, Same barrel lugs.  Difference in the shape of the recoil shields but essentially the guns are Same0 Same0.  I'm betting the Main Springs are also the same..  Makes me think I can find tunable extra Main Springs for the Husky and the JP Sauer.

I'll probably wind up cutting the Husky barrels to eliminate a crack, but once I do that, I'll go with screw in choke tubes.  This is going to be a fun shotgun.  Now all I need .... just a couple more.

Nice lookin' gun, complete with hand guard for those 8 round stages shooting BP.  Of course, you could have saved yourself the effort of hacking the barrel.  A little JB-Weld and Duct Tape would have probably held up okay  :)

Too Right Major 2.  Never met a barrel too short.  So long as it is FED legal of course.  I always try and leave el=nough barrel at cutting so I can be sure of truing it up without running afoul of the FEDS.

Thanks for posting for me.  I have another Hammer double that also ran afoul of my work bench.  It's barrel length is now 18 1/32.  I dearly love coach guns that really look like "Coach Guns."  Then ...... flames, Smoke, ........ BOOMBA!!  Shoot em with All Brass Hulls only.
WHEEEEEEEEEE !!!

PS:  With BP/Subs and a Splinter fore end, that leather hand guard is VERY NECESSARY!!

Yeah, I thought of that.  And my theory is that there was nothing wrong with the barrel, no crack, Coffinmaker just made that up so any purists out there wouldn't bug him about cutting down a nice old double.   :)

There was so a crack.  It looked like a crack.   :o  Well, maybe ...... just deep scratch that looked like a crack.   :P  Looked a lot like a crack.  Now it looks a lot like a Coach Gun.   Just ... exactly like a Coach Gun.   ::)

It's still a nice old Double.  It's a nice old Hammer Double Coach Gun   8)  A way KOOL Hammer Double Coach Gun yepper!!   8)

Albert Einstein  asked  "   “If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”

I've always agree with that,  and "Grass don't grow on busy street"  in reference to my rather wide centerline part  :)

However, it was in fact,  a work surface just about that cluttered where my 18v DeWalt cordless charger shorted out.

That was the issue... some loon put my 14.4 in a 18V charger... or so said the arson investigator  :-\

both were burned beyond recognition ...could been 18V in a 14.4 charger  ::)
