Uberti nickel durability
« on: December 05, 2016, 01:37:26 PM »
I'm looking at a new schofield from Taylor's. It's nickel plated. How well does ubertis nickel finish hold up.

I don't think there is a way to lump it into and all encompassing answer.  Over the years, I have worked on Nickel finish guns from ALL the manufactures.  Some had years of use and were almost like new.  Some were almost new and starting to flake in places.  As a general answer, I'd be prone to answer very well.  Understanding, you can get a lemon from anyone.

I have an 1860 Ubertie Henry made in 1990. No flaking but a little frosting in a few spots. These places are not readily noticeable.
