Cimmaron US Finish
« on: November 08, 2016, 10:33:35 AM »
Anybody have pictures of a Cimmaron with the US Finish? I am thinking of buying my first cartridge gun and trying to decide between a Colt, USFA or Cimmaron.

Go to this link at the Cimmaron website.  Second option is the US finish.  It appears to be a higher polish over the standard fnish.

The higher polished blue in that second picture is just a random variation of the pics.  The U.S. Finish is just the bone meal charcoal case hardening of the frame and hammer.

I think the charcoal blue example further down the page is an old picture.  The blue is much darker than that.  U.S. Finish with charcoal blue finish would make a striking combination, though.

Thanks you guys. I talked to a gentleman at Cimmaron and as Abiline said the US Finish applies only to CCH of frame and hammer. He did not mention anything about a higher polish or special bluing so I think if safe to assume the bluing is the same as their standard bluing. It costs $250 over the price of the gun. I will be sure too post pictures of whatever I get.

I looked at this revelation as a big let down and thought, yeah I'll just send plain Jane a third party for that special bluing.
A work in progress.

I'm curious, could one get any Cimarron handgun with one of these finishes? I always thought those finishes were restricted to certain models.

Yes. The gun is disassembled and the frame sent to Classic Guns who do the CCH.  Mostly it is Model P's that are done, but I've seen OT's and conversions that had that finish ordered.  Just be prepared to wait a while.

Another not so good photo but here is US finish on model P's. It is a very nice finish, these pics don't do it justice.
