From my recent visit to the Cody Museum, a nice sample of S&W #3 Russians and Americans. Apologies for the slightly underexposure!

Thanks for posting that!  It's been too long since I've been out to Cody.  Periodically I get out my pictures and gaze, but I need to make another trip soon.

Thank you for sharing! The Missus and I will be out that way next September for our Second Anniversary. We're both extremely excited to see the Firearms Museum in Cody. From the pictures I've seen, it looks amazing.

One of the rarest things to see at Cody are the Winchester revolver prototypes. I believe those were part of Winchester's successful attempt at dissuading Colt from continuing with the Burgess rifle project.
They are probably the ultimate rarity of "Frontier Iron".
Sadly, I forgot to take pics of them.  :-[

Howdy

This seems as appropriate a place to post this as anywhere.

I attended the Amoskeag Auction in Manchester NH a few weeks ago.

There was an American that I was sorely tempted to bid on. The American model is the only S&W #3 Top Break that I don't have an example of yet. It was a parts gun, not all original, and the hinge was a bit loose. But if the price had been right I would have bid on it.

As luck would have it, I won something else earlier in the day that ate up most of my funds.

And the American went for more $$$ than I wanted to spend.

One of these days I will find an American. And it will be fun loading heeled bullets for it.
That’s bad business! How long do you think I’d stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he’d pay me that much to stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!
