Is there a Blued, New Vaquero, Bisley 45LC?
« on: April 19, 2016, 11:16:52 PM »
Greetings;
I'm discovering my 'natural' point of aim is consistently high with the std grips.  I felt more comfortable shooting a friends (old) Ruger Bisley.  I'm only aware of a New Vaquero Bisley 45LC in stainless steel, not my taste.

Is it practical to convert to the Bisley style?  Thanks much.  Don't hesitate to PM me as well, PC not always available.

Brownell's has a Bisley grip frame listed for .357/.45.  Lists for about $100.  I looked at swapping a Montado grip frame to be compliant with SASS rules.  Ordered the grip frame, and found it would take a lot of fit and finish.  Sent it back, was about the same in the long run to buy another pistol.  I ended up just filling the grip grooves with JB weld to bring it into compliance.  Might be tworht the expense if there is nothing else that fits your needs though.

Thanks hp246;
Is my idear SASS illegal too?  Why is the Montado style grip frame illegal?

I'll call Brownells in the morning for some guidance & a shopping list for my "conversion"/modification.

Thanks for your response.
